We present integrated field spectroscopy of the stellar and gas kinematics in the peculiar Virgo cluster E7/S0 galaxy NGC 4550, using data obtained from the Densepak multifiber array on the WIYN telescope. NGC 4550 has been widely noted for its cospatial counterrotating stellar disks. Using cross correlation techniques, we derive velocities and dispersions for both stellar disks in the galaxy. From the line ratios, an estimate of the mass ratio of the 2 stellar disks is also derived. It was previously known that the line strengths of the 2 stellar disks were very similar along the major axis, but we have found that one disk is more vertically extended, is dynamically hotter, and has more mass than the other. The more massive stellar disk has gas associated with it. This study gives new constraints on the formation of this interesting galaxy, supporting a large gas accretion episode many Gyrs ago.
