Hydrodynamics, Galaxies: Kinematics And Dynamics
Scientific paper
It is proved that the Newtonian equations of hydrodynamics do not admit
a solution describing an incompressible perfect-fluid gravitating
prolate spheroid, which is steadily rotating about its axis of symmetry.
The possible dynamical and astrophysical interest of the result is
briefly discussed.
