The South site of the Pierre Auger Observatory (in Argentina), should be finished in 2003. 1600 surface detectors will be deployed in the pampa as well as 4 fluorescence detectors in the next 3 years. The total surface will reach 3000 km2. In the next 6 months, will be installed the Engineering Array (EA), a fraction of the complete experiment, made of 38 surface detectors and 1 fluorescence detector. The surface will be about 100 km2, the largest in the world. I present a status report of the experiment.
