Different formulations of problems of statistical theory of wave diffraction and propagation are examined. The problems studied include: the excitation of fields by random sources; the diffraction of partially coherent waves; the diffraction of waves by bodies having a random shape; and the propagation and diffraction of waves in randomly inhomogeneous media. Example problems of such fields as acoustics, radio astronomy, radio physics, optics, etc. are given for each of the statistical problems under consideration. Approximate methods for solving such problems are outlined.
