Helioseismic modeling has hitherto been based on deterministic inversion schemes. In this study, we demonstrate the application of geostatistical methods to synthetic data for the imaging of solar structures. The effects of measurement errors on the inversion results are also assessed. We show that the optimization algorithm allows the determination of the subphotospheric sound speed structure by fitting the data based on a nonlinear inversion scheme.
