The method suggested in the previous papers, which is based on the invariance principle and the applications of generating and characteristic functions, is used to determine the mean time of photon travel in a three-dimensional semi-infinite medium. Under general assumptions concerning the elementary act of scattering new equations and formulae are obtained to find out the dependence of the mentioned mean quantity on the characteristics of the original photon. It has been shown that the mean time of travel for photons escaping the medium can be found by formal differentiation in respect to β of the appropriate equations and formulae for photon exit probability. The new relation between the mean number of scatterings and the mean time of photon travel in the medium has been found.
