A self-consistent calculation of a siphon flow in isolated magnetic flux tubes, together with a large-scale mechanical equilibrium of the tube, is carried out. The relevant equations for the problem and the model atmosphere being used are presented, some qualitative aspects about stationary flows are deduced, and the behavior of critical flow is also considered. Finally, an interpretation of the calculations to solar application is discussed.
