A new method for the computation of complete Stark profiles for multielectron systems is presented. Modern electron scattering techniques are used for the electron broadening while the ions are described within the framework of the model microfield method. The method has been applied to the C IV optical spectrum and removes many discrepancies found in the analysis of PG 1159 stars.
