We propose to observe a well-defined sample of gamma-ray burst (GRB) host galaxies in an optimum redshift range for radio detection (z<1) to resolve the question: What are the star-formation rates of GRB hosts? Mapping the growth of cosmic structure and star-formation is of prime importance in cosmology. GRB hosts constitute a unique probe of galaxy evolution; they are identified over a wide redshift range, selected independent of their luminosity, and trace at least some fraction of universal star-formation. Unfortunately, the GRB hosts studied before do not constitute a fair sample of the population. To get localisations and redshifts, the presence of an optical afterglow was usually a requirement, leading to a strong bias against dusty systems. To take advantage of the success of the Swift satellite, producing a large sample of GRBs, we have embarked upon a multi-facility campaign to understand the nature of GRB hosts, founded on a VLT large program. Our follow-up is producing a sample both larger and much less optically-biased than previous studies. Here we apply to complete (the last 3 galaxies) the ATCA radio observations of this unbiased sample of GRB hosts.
