The detection of an embedded young early-type star which appears to be the heating source of the bright-rimmed dust cloud IC 1848 A in the IC 1848 H II region is reported. Observations of radio emission due to CO, H2CO, CS, HCN, HCO(+), and several other molecular species are discussed which indicate that the star is associated with the position of the greatest CO excitation in IC 1848 A, that the star formed within the bright rim, and that the mass of the cloud is 3800 solar masses for a diameter of 1.4 pc. An estimate of the luminosity of the embedded star yields a value corresponding to that of a B0.5 to B1 star. Near-IR observations are examined which reveal an IR source that coincides with the peak CO excitation and whose observed IR colors are consistent with extinction from a circumstellar dust shell. It is concluded that the IC 1848 A bright-rimmed dust cloud appears to contain a small group of newly formed stars whose formation was triggered by expansion of the IC 1848 H II region.
