New and old photometric and line profile data are combined in a reappraisal of the nonradial propulsion properties of the middle-B star 53 Persei. Data from 17 different observations from 1981 are combined with data from 1977 and 1978 photometric observations. An analysis of the data in toto and in subsets suggests the presence of stable frequencies of nearly equal amplitude at 0.464 and 0.595 cycles/day. Good fits were obtained of recent Si II (4130 A) line profile observations of 53 Persei obtained during January and February 1983. New photometric and line profile variations are found; they are consistent with the identifications of the frequencies as nonradial modes of identification of l = 3, m = -2. A log of observations and a table of the profile fitting parameters are provided.
