The authors discussed in detail the dynamic characteristics of the telescope motion control on a gondola and established its mathematical model. After calculating its transfer function and analyzing its performance of stability, they make a compensation loop to reject the undesirable oscillation. By the process of MATLAB simulation, a proper value of the parameters for the compensation can be obtained. Inserting the compensator into the telescope pointing control loop, better than 10 arc-seconds resolution can be achieved on the ground actual test.
