The stability of collapsing isothermal spheres to radial perturbations is studied under the assumption of self-similar flow. A linear perturbation equation for the growth of density contrast is derived in the similarity coordinate, and eigenfunctions are obtained in the asymptotic regimes of the Larson-Penston and the expansion wave solutions. In either solution, fragmentation occurs only very slowly and is almost negligible within an intial free-fall time.
