In this paper we study the generalized BO-ZK equation in two dimensions. We
classify the existence and non-existence of solitary waves depending on the
sign of the dispersions and on the nonlinearity. By using the approach
introduced by Cazenave and Lions we study the nonlinear stability of solitary
waves. We also prove some decay and regularity properties of such waves.
