A stability analysis of the two solutions of the extended local mixing-length theory (Umezu & Nakakita) has been performed. It is found that the Yi -convection is stable while the y2-convection is unstable with the ordinarily accepted values of parameters. By linear stability analysis, it can be shown that the maximum V in stable convection is smaller than the value previously given by us and hence than the Ledoux-Sakashita-Hayashi criterion. Key words: convection - instabilities - stars: evolution - stars: interiors.
