We use Spitzer 24µm, 70µm and ground based Hα data for a sample of 41 SINGS galaxies to investigate whether a reliable SFR indicator using 70µm emission can be established for sub-galactic ( 0.5-2 kpc) line--emitting regions. A linear correlation between 70µ and SFR is found for regions with metallicity 12+Log(O/H)> 8.4 and with luminosity surface destiny Σ(70)> 1040 ergs . s-1 . kpc-2. For these regions, we propose a calibration of SFR(70µm). The 1-σ dispersion in the data is 0.17 dex. We discuss deviations and scatter in the data at lower luminosity and metallicity.
