The overall change of the spin rate of the small Main Belt objects (MBO) is evaluated by using a Monte Carlo model. Two main effects are considered: collisions and YORP. A large sample of test objects is evolved over a time-scale comparable with the solar system age until they reach a steady state spin distribution that should reproduce the observed small MBOs distribution. It has been recognized that YORP is the driving mechanism for the spin rate evolution of NEAs and small MBOs, however collisions may also cause spin changes and eventually reset the YORP evolution. Thanks to a sophisticated model, already successfully applied to the study of the NEAs spin rate evolution, the characteristic of the spin evolution of the small MB population will be investigated, e.g., the relative importance of the two mechanisms, the limiting size for the importance of the YORP effect, the time required for reaching the steady state distribution. The mean production rate and lifetime of binaries is estimated by means of the model, in order to derive physical constraints on the binary formation process.
