The paper studies 'supermassive' bodies for which there is no equilibrium solution in the general theory of relativity. Since the mass of such bodies is greater than 2 solar masses and their nuclear fuel has been depleted, a dynamic solution of the oscillatory-collapse type is shown to be inevitable. The simplest model with a polytropic equation of state is analyzed in the Newtonian approximation. Self-similarity of motion is assumed in this analysis, but neither rotation nor a magnetic field is taken into account. It is found that such a crude model leads to pulsed thermal X-ray emission. A plasma mechanism of pulsed radiowave generation is discussed.
