Plessite, a component of most metallic meteorites, is discussed in terms of its composition and texture. The variations in texture and composition indicate that more than one mechanism may be responsible for plessite formation. Without an unambiguous origin for piessite, interpretation of the compositional variations within plessite in terms of the thermal history of the meteorite can only be tentative.
