Scientific paper

The opportunities for observing specular reflections of sunlight from
geostationary satellites are discussed. For stabilized cylindrical
satellites, specular flashes should be observable at dates close to the
equinoxes. Seasonal magnitude variations of geostationary satellites
have in fact been measured.
