In 1993 the Soviet Union plans to launch a satellite observatory to conduct investigations in the field of High-Energy Astrophysics. The payload will comprise some of the most sensitive and advanced instruments yet to be designed for the disciplines of X-ray and Gamma-ray astronomy. A number of these instruments are being prepared by scientific teams from outside the Soviet Union who are working in close collaboration with the Spectrum-Roentgen-Gamma (SRG) project led by the Institute for Space Research in Moscow.
