A numerical solution of the transport equation is obtained for cosmic-ray acceleration by a supernova blast wave. The important role of the cosmic-ray escape phenomenon (i.e., the intensive escape of cosmic rays from the vicinity of the shock front as some limiting energy is reached) is confirmed, and the significant contribution of the free expansion stage to the resulting cosmic-ray spectrum is demonstrated.
