A spectrophotometric study of faint northern dwarf nova candidates is presented. A detailed account of previous knowledge of the individual systems is given along with a critical examination of the newly obtained spectra. Measurements of equivalent widths, line strengths, and line widths of the emission lines are discussed. While the results verify the dwarf nova classification in most cases, there are some notable exceptions. Among these is a group of three M stars (HN Cyg, UY Vul, and UZ Vul). MR Per is found to be a main sequence M star.
