New data are presented on the spectroscopic variation of the binary star V 444 Cyg (WN 5 + O6), observed between 1979 and 1982 at a moderate resolution (2 A) in the red spectral range. The radial velocity curves of the emission lines (WN star) and the absorption lines (O star) were found to have an amplitude ratio of about 2.7, leading to a mass ratio M(WN)/M(O) of about 0.4. The velocity amplitudes observed are larger than those found by Muench (1950).
