The symbiotic AG Peg has been observed spectrophotometrically in the 3300-7500 A range with 50-A resolution. The TiO bands indicate a spectrum one subtype earlier for the cool companion star when its side facing the hot component rather than the opposite side is viewed. Classified M3 III, the cool component intercepts about 1 percent of the radiation from the hot source, enough for its outer atmosphere to become significantly heated, thereby weakening the TiO bands.
