Solar Granulation: Spectrograms

Solar spectrograms of high spatial resolution have been obtained from a CCD camera at the output of the spectrograph associated with the refractor in the Turret Dome of the Pic-du-Midi Observatory. New properties of the solar granulation flow have been discovered from the processing of the best spectrograms obtained. The presence of vertical velocity gradients is detected by using two different methods of line position measurement and accurate determination of the profile asymmetry.
