HD 216533 is a spectroscopic binary with a period P = 16.03 d. There is no synchronism between the orbital motion and the rotation of the star. The oblique-rotator model has been applied to the spectral and magnetic variations. All the variable elements (Sr II, Ti II, Mn I, Mn II, Cr I, Cr II, Fe II, and Mg II) are located at the magnetic poles. The value of log g determined from the hydrogen line profiles is confirmed by the application of the oblique-rotator model. Thus the star proves to be slightly above the main sequence. The variation detected in the core of the hydrogen lines is related to the magnetic structure. The Balmer discontinuity is minimal at the negative magnetic pole.
