Recent results from observations of black hole X-ray binaries areinconsistent with existing spectral models of accretion disks. The modelsare unable to reproduce the observed trends in color temperature withluminosity. I will summarize these results and discuss our efforts todevelop a sophisticated spectral model with a more accurate treatment ofradiative transfer. I will demonstrate how our models are consistent withthe observations and provide preliminary fitting results. I will alsodiscuss numerical simulations of the radiation-magnetohydrodynamics ofaccretion disks and our initial efforts to incorporate the results ofthese calculations into our spectral models.
