The spectrographic nature of the ascending elongated and point arc patterns with descending plasma flows is investigated, and the relation between the rate of ascent of the arc and the velocities of the directional motion of the radiating plasma in the same arc is examined. Qualitative agreement is obtained between the calculated profiles of the spectral lines of the point arc patterns and the line profiles of Severnyi's 'whiskers.' It is found that the elongated arc patterns appear in the spectrum in the form of characteristic emission peaks which are analogous to those observed in the flares in the H and K Ca II lines. The flare glow in the hydrogen and metal lines is observed only in the bright compact nodes.
