Observations of seven objects selected from the de Grijp et al. catalog of active galactic nuclei (AGN) candidates are presented. From their optical spectral characteristics related with diagnostic diagrams, they are classified according to their degree of nuclear activity: four of them as Seyfert 2 types, one as a Seyfert 1.8 type, and another as a transition case between a low-ionization narrow emission line region (Liner) and H II region-like galaxy; the remaining one turns out to be a star. Far-infrared properties are also used to analyze these objects. A good correlation between far-IR and hydrogen alpha luminosities is observed. The heliocentric radial velocities are given too.
