We aim to work on the global distribution modeling of novae in M31 and to investigate the open question of a possible bimodal (disk/bulge) population split. To support this project, we require optical observations (spectra as well as photometry) to classify the novae included in our study. Follow-up with X-ray observations using Swift, XMM-Newton, and Chandra will be used to correlate their spectral type, and decline rate of the light curve with its corresponding X-ray phase. The spectral classification of novae is essential to our project in interpreting the correlation between nova type, location within M31 (bulge/disk), temporal decay behavior in the optical regime, and temporal/spectral behavior in the X-ray regime (Super-Soft Source phase, or otherwise). We detect approximately 2 novae per month in M31. Typical peak brightnesses are 15 mag, but drop to 20 mag within a few weeks. Because of this rapid decline, we request Target of Opportunity follow-up spectroscopy for bright post-discovery novae visible from KPNO.
