Scientific paper

Experimental spectra of the amplitude-frequency characteristics (AFC) of radio signals reflected from the E layer are obtained along with model AFC spectra constructed theoretically for models of homogeneous and inhomogeneous E-layers. It is demonstrated that the internal structure of the E region can be determined by a comparative analysis of the experimental and theoretical AFC spectra. The determination of the layer half-width if the critical frequency is known (e.g., from an ionogram) is considered.
