We present the results and future prospects of an extensive study of the spatial distribution of stars, dust and gas in nearby galaxies, aimed at understanding the assembly, evolution and interplay of these components of spiral disks. As a first step we have derived the radial distribution of dust properties (attenuation, PAH abundance, dust-to-gas ratio...) from multi-wavelength observations of the SINGS galaxies. This study is now being extended into a bi-dimensional approach by means of Integral Field Spectroscopy data of a sample of nearby spirals, acquired with the PPAK instrument at the 3.5m telescope in Calar Alto and with VIMOS at VLT. We present preliminary results for one of the galaxies in our sample, NGC4654. These IFS data, together with with already existing GALEX and Spitzer imagery, will be used to derive the spatial distribution of the physical properties of the underlying stellar population (age, SFR, SFH...), gas (metallicity...) and dust (attenuation, surface density...).
