The construction and operation of SPARO(Submillimeter Polarimeter for Antarctic Remote Observing) will be presented, emphasizing its cryogenic performance. The SPARO cryostat consists of a two stage He-3 system in conjunction with a He-4 bath and a capillary-fed pumped pot condensing block. SPARO is currently awaiting installation at the Viper telescope at the South Pole where its primary scientific task will be to study the large scale structure of the magnetic field near the galactic center. Funding for SPARO's construction and operation was provided by the National Science Foundation. SPARO is associated with CARA, Center for Astrophysical Research in Antarctica, an NSF Center for Excellence in Science and Technology.
