Space charge sheath formation in a magnetized plasma flow around space bodies is considered for the cases of high surface conductivity, free electron emission, and dipole magnetic field. The results are used to explain such different phenomena in the ionosphere and magnetosphere of the earth and planets as the polar aurora and kilometer radiation of the earth and the decameter radiation of the Jovian satellite Io.
