For the Spacelab option, the unknowns (positions, parallaxes, proper motions, instrument constants) and the data (extent catalogs, measured arcs) are specified and enumerated. In a simple mathematical model, the minimal number of data needed for the problem to be solvable is specified, and in the case of superabundant data the variance of the unknowns is determined. The concepts of mobility, rigidity, peeling and kernel are introduced. Numerical experiments on a star sample provide the necessary redundancy of measured arcs. For the parallax determination, observational schemes in which the arcs are measured 2 or 3 times are proposed, with their subsequent precisions.
