The inflation of the PAGEOS-A geodetic ballon satellite was confirmed by photographic observations made by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory's Baker-Nunn camera in South Africa. The observation included at 30-frame sequence of the Agena D apogee thrust burn and the resulting cloud formations and dispersions. These interesting changes in cloud shapes indicate a field for further investigation. The film also contains 40 frames of the Agena D prior to apogee burn; if precisely reduced these should yield, accurate to 1ft/sec, the actual velocity increase achieved from the burn.
