Scientific paper

The paper presents calculations of summer and winter variations in the solar cycle of the production rates of vibrational quanta in reactions of N with NO(Q2) and O(1D) with N2(Q1), as well as during the excitation of N2 by photoelectrons (Q3). It is shown that Q3 does not affect the vibrational temperature. Tabular values of (Q1 + Q2 + Q3)/N2 concentration are presented which can be used to determine the vibrational temperature.
