Attention is given to the photometric features on optical brightness curves and bursts of linearly polarized emission of the HZ Her/Her X-1 binary. These turn out to be associated with the emission of plasma clots ('blobs') which form as a result of the discrete flow of matter from the surface of the optical star and its interaction with the external layers of the accretion disk. The moments of occurrence of photometric features and linear polarization bursts are associated with definite phases of the orbital motion and the 35-day cycle.
