We have investigated the properties of a weakly nonlinear, weakly dissipative dynamical system that resembles a multimode pulsating star. Three-mode coupling is shown to be very effective in transporting energy from driven modes to damped modes, thus limiting the pulsation amplitudes. Analytical predictions on mode amplitudes is confirmed by numerical experiments.
