Ground-based observations in the visible and near-infrared of the spectrum of comet Halley were carried out during 12 March - 29 April 1986 using a photometer composed of a 250 mm Newtonian reflector, and light detection and data recording equipment. The photometer and the experimental procedure for studying the comet are described. Results of prominent emissions and associated aspects of the comet are presented.
