A method and results of observations of the intensity H of sunspot magnetic fields is given. During periods of flare lull on the sun, the values of H for the spots remain relatively constant for 4-6 h. After a chromospheric flare or an increase in the brightness of the floculli near the spots in the same active region, a short-term increase (pulsation) of H called a magnetic flare is observed. Chromospheric and magnetic flares appear to be parallel processes in time. A magnetic flare is not a consequence of a chromospheric flare.
