An analysis is made of the gravitational nonradiative collapse of dust configurations in the presence of an electromagnetic field. The analysis is made in terms of exact dynamical solutions for a wide range of space-time symmetries, namely cylindrical, pseudoplanar, toroidal, and spherical, planar, and pseudospherical. Attention is also given to the question of horizon existence and formation and to the possibility of extending the techniques developed to the more realistic case of axial symmetry. It is thought probable that the indicated (but not rigorously proved) instability of the horizon in the inversed black hole space-time is connected with the fact that this is a Cauchy horizon.
