Neutral matter without pressure is considered as a general example of nonrotating systems described by a metric formulation involving Killing vectors. Self-similar solutions with spatial and temporal singularities are examined for the case of nonradiative collapse of evolving matter distributions with cylindrical, pseudoplanar, and toroidal symmetries. Exact solutions are obtained as functions of the anisotropy factor, and it is shown that an anisotropic time function leads to a noncollapsing solution with a steady-state matter density distribution.
