The linear stability analysis of collisionless anisotropic spherical stellar systems is discussed. In order to study the stability of a simple and astrophysically interesting equilibrium sequence (f inf) for such stellar systems, analytical characterizations of the f inf distribution functions are described. The linearized equations for stability are formulated, and the relevant boundary conditions are discussed.
