Spectra and degrees of polarization of the S-component of chromospheric magnetic bremsstrahlung are calculated for a bipolar sunspot group, the magnetic field of which is approximated by the field of two vertical magnetic dipoles. Two models are used for the distribution of the electron concentration and temperature as functions of height above the photosphere, and a spectrum with two maxima is obtained for the distribution in one of the models. The form of this spectrum is attributed to the existence of an extended region in the chromosphere with a small gradient in electron temperature that varies with height. It is found that the spectrum of the S-component just above a bipolar sunspot group is shifted to the short-wave range due to enhancement of the magnetic field above the group as compared with the magnetic field of a single sunspot in the same region.
