There was a slight recovery in the sunspot MDF in 2004 May but generally it was about the same as in the previous months of this year. The northern hemisphere remains much less active than the south. No high latitude sunspots were reported but there were some of low latitude. June brought a further reduction of sunspot activity and with an MDF of only 2.86 it was the lowest recorded since mid-1998. Northern hemisphere activity was particularly low and the Sun was virtually spotless for the first 13 days.
