The paper investigates the orientation of the ellipses of first and second harmonics of a 27-day Fourier expansion of the epicyclograms of the average value in daily variation of the cosmic-ray neutron component for different solar rotations during the IGY period. The behavior of a semidiurnal harmonic of cosmic rays for the same time interval is discussed. Results indicate that the contribution of the cosmic-ray gradient mechanism is on the average proportional to the 27-day anisotropy variations produced by factors active in a plane perpendicular to the axis of solar rotation.
