The Mileura Widefield Array - Low Frequency Demonstrator (MWA-LFD) is a joint US-Australian project with multiple science objectives, which include measurement of heliospheric density, velocity and magnetic fields particularly during solar storms, and the detection of red-shifted hydrogen during the epoch of re-ionization in the early Universe. The proposed array will cover the frequency range from 80-300 MHz, will comprise 500 receptors spread over 1.5 km and be sited at the exquisitely radio quiet Mileura, Western Australia. In order to field-test the MWA-LFD prototype hardware, four observing campaigns were conducted at Mileura between March and September 2005, each of them lasting about two weeks. In addition to engineering tests, this opportunity was utilized to conduct some science observations. This paper describes the solar observations conducted during these campaigns focusing on the results from high time and spectral resolution interferometeric observations of short lived (few seconds) and spectrally narrow (few MHz) solar bursts. The work at Haystack Observatory on this project was supported by NSF and AFOSR.
