The impact of solar and geomagnetic activity on character of pressure, temperature and prevailing winds NAO patterns in winter (January+February) periods is compared for the sea level and 100 mb level for pressure, the 700 mb and 100 mb level for temperature and the 850 mb and 100 mb level for prevailing winds. In the analysis meteorological data were first divided into two groups according to the NAO sign, and then from each such group cases with high solar activity, high geomagnetic activity, low solar activity and low geomagnetic activity were selected and composite maps were created. Their statistical significance was tested using Student`s t-test. The analysis indicates that the occurrence of planetary or Synoptic (limited to the North Atlantic lower troposphere mainly) patterns is associated not only with the cases of high or low solar activity, but also with the cases of high or low geomagnetic activity. Meteorological data in winter periods 1952-2001 for pressure and temperature, and in winter periods 1964, 1967-1969, 1971-2001 for wind were taken from the NCAR Research Data Sets.
